Mt. Pleasant girls smash Wapello, West scores five

WAPELLO ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? soccer team simply dominated in their final regular season game on Thursday night. The Panthers hung ten on the Arrows in their biggest blowout win of the season.

Mary West had half of those, scoring a season-high five goals. West also dished out one assist in the win. Kalyssa Longhurst added two goals of her own.

Kaela Welcher scored one goal and had two assists. Sydney Doak had one goal, and Kendin Scheitlin finished the game with one goal. Anna Ostby and Liz Perry each had one assist.

Mt. Pleasant finished the regular season 11-5. They will host either Fairfield or PCM in the second round of the Class 2A regional tournament on Tuesday, May 29. That game will begin at 5 p.m.

The winner of the first round regional game will play either Pella, Oskaloosa or Grinnell in the regional finals on Monday, June 4.
