Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade girls sweep Washington

WASHINGTON ? The Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade girls? basketball team began the season with two wins over Washington on Tuesday night.

The ?A? team pulled away in the second half to take down the Demons 19-7. The ?B? team held on to their lead throughout the second half to win 12-6.

In the ?A? game, Mt. Pleasant led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter and 9-4 at the end of the second. The Panthers stretched the lead to 15-5 after three and never looked back, crusing to a 12-point victory.

The Panthers had four players finish the game with four or more points. Savana Walls lead the team with five points and the trio of Jenna Gilmore, Kenna Lamm and Ava Lowery had four points apiece.

The Panther ?B? team was ahead 8-4 at the end of the first half. Mt. Pleasant held Washington to just one point in the second half to win the game by six points.

Sami Wibben had a big game for the Panther ?B? team, outscoring the Demons by herself. She tallied eight points to lead the way. Jaden Brumbaugh and Jaden Seberg also found the scoreboard, scoring two points apiece.
