OSKALOOSA ? The Mt. Pleasant boys? golf team came up one meet short of the state tournament. The Panthers finished fifth in their district tournament in Oskaloosa, shooting a 335.
It was a tight team race throughout the day with just 25 strokes separating first from fifth. Oskaloosa shot 310 to win the meet. Grinnell shot 314 for second. Washington finished third at 319, and Pella shot a 329 for fourth.
The Panthers were led by Trace White, who shot an 80 to tie for 10th with Washington?s Jacob Van Osdol. White shot a 40 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine to finish 10 over on the par-70 course.
Jake Moffett and Brevin Wilson both shot 82 which put them both in a three-way tie at 82 with Washington?s Brock Sobaski. Moffett shot a 42 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine, while Wilson shot a 41 on both the front and back nine.
The fourth Panther scorer was Rhett Zeglen, who finished the day at 91. Zeglen shot a 47 on the front nine and finished the back nine at 44.
Bailey Shelledy shot a 96 on the day, scoring a 46 on the front nine and a 50 on the back nine. Austin Buckert had 52 strokes on both the front and back nine to end his day at 104.
