PELLA ? The Mt. Pleasant tennis team had their hands full in Saturday morning?s substate game against Pella. The Dutch were too much for the Panthers, knocking them out of the postseason 5-0.

The two teams were set for six singles matches and three doubles matches but, per rules, the match finished after one team had five points. Pella won five singles matches before Mt. Pleasant could win one.

Corbin Broeker fell 6-4 and 6-0 to Colton Edwards in the No. 2 singles match. Elijah Plooster fell 6-1 and 6-1 in the No. 3 match against Jack Edwards. Jack Schimmelpfennig was swept 6-0 and 6-0 by Carter Briggs in the No. 4 match, and Donny Arledge fell 6-0 and 6-1 against Isiah Martin in the No. 5 match.

Ethan Weber took the first set 6-3 over Jordan Roozeboom in the No. 1 match, and was tied 1-1 in the second set when Pella clinched the win with their fifth solo win.

Weber will be in the state singles tournament on Friday, May 25. That tournament will start early in the morning. It was the last match of the season for the rest of the Mt. Pleasant squad.
