MP softball swept on road

OTTUMWA ญญ? The Mt. Pleasant softball team couldn?t stir up any momentum in Friday night?s non-conference doubleheader against Ottumwa. The Panthers lost 6-2 in game one and dropped game two 11-2.

The Bulldogs scored the first four runs of game one, plating three runs in the first and one in the second. Mt. Pleasant cut the lead to 4-2 with one run each in the fourth and the fifth, but Ottumwa added two insurance runs in the bottom half of the fifth.

Anni Leichty took the loss in game one. Lyndi Vantiger was 2-4 with an RBI at the plate. Savana Walls had the lone extra-base hit for Mt. Pleasant, with a double.

Ottumwa scored two in the first and four in the second to take a 6-0 lead after two innings. Mt. Pleasant scored two in the third but the Bulldogs scored one in the third, five in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Keelyn McNamee was in the circle for game two and picked up the loss. Chi Glaha went 2-4 at the plate, and Makayla Cam had one RBI.

Mt. Pleasant will take on Ft. Madison in a Southeast Conference doubleheader tonight. Those games begin at 5:30 p.m.
