MP girls? track team runs at Iowa State

AMES ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? track and field team ran at the Iowa State Indoors in Ames on Monday night. The Panthers finished the day with five top-20 finishes including two in the top 15.

The best result of the day came from Taylor Murray, who gave the Panthers their only top-10 finish. Murray placed seventh in the 1500-meter run, crossing the line in 5:13.69.

Abby Ryon finished 13th in the 3000-meter run to give the Panthers two top-15 finishes in the distance events. Ryon crossed the tape at 11:12.48. Serenity Keomanivong was 16th in the 60-meter hurdles, getting over the line in 10.31 seconds.

Two Mt. Pleasant relay teams placed in the top 20. The 4X800 team of Kendall Dascher, Maggie Jennings, Cristina Carthey and Maggie Cristoforo placed 16th in 11:05.66, and the 4X400 team of Avery Sutter, Lyndi Vantiger, Delaney McDowell and Dascher crossed in 19th, finishing in 4:38.91.

The Panther boys will be at the Iowa State Indoors today (Tuesday) at 3 p.m. The girls will be back in action on Saturday, March 17, when they head to Central College in Pella for a 10 a.m. meet.
