The Mt. Pleasant girls? tennis team fell at home to Keokuk in Southeast Conference play on Thursday evening. The Chiefs won the match, which was pushed up due to a scheduling conflict, by the final score of 6-3.
Mt. Pleasant went 2-4 in singles play. Sierra Barton picked up an 8-1 win in the No. 5 match and Breeana Runyon won the No. 6 match 8-3.
Quin Whaley lost a tight one, 8-5, in the No. 1 match. Erin Zihlman fell 8-1 in the No. 3 game. No. 3 Hallie Sandeen dropped her game 8-3, and Shaleen Thiengmany fell in a nail-biter, 9-7, in the No. 4 match.
Barton and Runyon kept rolling in doubles competition. The duo won the No. 3 doubles match with an 8-0 sweep. Whaley and Zihlman fell 8-3 in the No. 1 match and Sandeen and Theingmany fell 8-2 in the No. 2 match.
Mt. Pleasant will have a quick turnaround today (Friday) as they face Ft. Madison in another SEC match. The girls will play on the road and the boys will be at home. Both meets begin at 4:30 p.m.
