MP boys? soccer team pounds Albia

ALBIA ? The Albia boys? soccer team came into Friday night?s game with Mt. Pleasant 8-3 and riding a three-game winning streak, but they left their home field with a sour taste in their mouths. The Panthers beat up on the Blue Demons 4-0 on the road.

The Panthers scored three goals in the first half, two of which came from Payton Kelly. Kelly picked up both his goals off assists from teammate Cade Warner.

Paris Chounlamny found the scoreboard in the first half to make it 3-0 before the break. He picked up assists from both Kyle Medina and Warner. Warner picked up his fourth assist of the night in the second half, feeding Jadyn Vongsavath who scored to put the Panthers up 4-0. Nathan Rauenbuehler recorded a shut out in net.

The junior varsity team won 3-1, utilizing two goals from Rauenbuehler in the first half. Brayden Ackles added a goal of his own in the second half.

Mt. Pleasant moved to 4-2 overall with the win. They will try and improve on their 3-2 conference record today (Monday) when they take on Keokuk in a home game at 4:30 p.m.
