ELDRIDGE ? The Mt. Pleasant baseball team suffered a close loss at North Scott on Thursday night. The Lancers shut the Panthers down 3-0.
North Scott scored their first two runs in the third inning and tacked on one in the fifth to take the 3-0 lead where it would stay.
Colby Potts had a nice outing for Mt. Pleasant, despite the loss. He pitched all six innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk, while striking out three batters.
The offense struggled to get runners on base all night. Potts added to his day by having the best offensive night, finishing 2-3. Rylan Seberg went 1-3 with a double and Cooper Huckabone finished 1-3 as well.
The junior varsity team played in a game preceding the varsity matchup. The JV Panthers lost 7-6.
Seberg, Grant Goody, Jaxon Hoyle, Zach Manganello, Corbin Broeker and Clayton Lowery each picked up singles in the win. Nik Coble took the loss on the mound.
The Panther varsity team fell to 0-3 to start the season. They will host Chariton tonight (Friday) at 7 p.m., at Mapleleaf Athletic Complex.
