Failure to stop at a red light led to an accident at the intersection of Washington and Main streets on Monday, May 7.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to the report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Washington and Main streets at approximately 3:57 p.m. According to police reports, a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, owned and operated by Bill Rauenbuehler, was traveling east when he failed to stop at the red light at the intersection. Rauenbuehler continued through the intersection colliding with a 2007 Ford 500 owned and operated by Linda Miller.
One passenger in the Miller vehicle was transported to the Henry County Health Center with suspected minor injuries. Damages to both vehicles was estimated at $5,000 and a state accident report was completed. Rauenbuehler was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted on scene by the Henry County Health Center ambulance service.
