DES MOINES ? The Wellmark Foundation is accepting proposals for its matching assets to community health (MATCH) small grants until 12 a.m. on June 8.
The small MATCH grants are for up to $25,000 and must be matched at 50 percent. These grants support promising projects that can help individuals, families and communities achieve better health. This can be done by creating built environments that encourage physical activity and access to and consumption of nutritious foods.
Examples of sustainable grants projects that continue after the Wellmark Foundation grant funding ends include:
? Improving access to locally sourced foods.
? Supporting connections between local food systems and health.
? Improving nutrition in school settings.
? Advancing active transportation concepts.
? Promoting trail development.
? Providing safe, accessible venues for physical activity in a community
Applications for small MATCH grants are available online at www.wellmark.com/foundation.
