Man arrested at Super 8 Motel Wednesday on stalking charges

A man was arrested at the Super 8 Motel in Mt. Pleasant Wednesday, July 18, after harassing a person and attempting to get into their vehicle.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to the harassment complaint, arresting Jeff Hummell, 40, of New London, after he refused to cooperate with officers. Officers responded from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Henry County Sheriff?s Office and Iowa State Patrol. A Henry County Health Center ambulance also assisted.

Hummell was charged with stalking with a dangerous weapon, a Class D felony; interference with official acts causing injury to officers, an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of meth, a serious misdemeanor.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
