Love equals commitment

John 14:15 says, ?If you love me, keep my commandments.? Keith Moore, Pastor in Branson, Mo, shares: There is no love without commitment; the level of commitment shows the degree of love.

Do you yearn to know what real love is? Is there a yearning to know who God is and what he is all about? Are you hungering to love others the way Jesus intends for you to? Is it your daily ambition to be walking in the love-zone?

Love is not a sensation or emotion. 1 John 4:8 says that God is love. Love is God! We can never escape the significance of loving. Matthew 22:37-40 tells us to love God and to love others, the first and greatest commandment ? even above faith! We misunderstand love when it comes to our loving the Lord Jesus ? ?I love you even though I don?t always obey you, but you know I love you.?

Wait- Jesus doesn?t know we love him when this is how we think or live ? our level of commitment shows our level of love to him.

All marriages start out in the name of love, but not all finish in love. Love equals commitment. It?s not about falling in love, like some accident; it is about growing in love, on purpose and intentionally.

If there are problems in your marriage, seek to understand your mate and seek God?s help. We can work out our differences. That?s what marriage takes: work, along with communication, forgiveness, humility and compromise. I remind couples that before you are husband and wife, you are friends. Never quit on your friendship, on your marriage, or on your covenant and vows to each other.

How did Jesus say we should love the Lord? We love Him with all of our heart, our soul, our strength and our mind (Matthew 22:37-40). John 14:15 says, ?If you love me, keep my commandments.? When the Lord instructs us to do something, and we fail to do it, we are in disobedience; the fact is that we love something else more than the Lord!

The old adage says, ?Actions speak louder than words.? How I act toward my Heavenly Father conveys more to him than what my mouth does. Basically, when we don?t honor God and disobey his commands, we are actually saying that we like to do things our own way rather than his. Our faith in God is revealed by our obedience to him.

John 14:21 states, ?He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.?

Our Heavenly Father gave us the will to choose. Faith, love, obedience and commitment are not things which are programmed into our systems ? it is our choice to obey or ignore God.

There?s a blessing for those who obey, love and are committed to God?s kingdom, a blessing for those who believe, even though they have not seen! John 20:29- Jesus said, ? ? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.?

So believe him, love him, obey him, and he will become as plain to you as the wind on your face! You cannot see it, but you can sure sense the effects of him ? That wind is the real deal!
