IW volleyball goes 1-4 in non-conference play

Iowa Wesleyan Volleyball officially got underway last weekend. The Tigers played five games between Friday, Aug. 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 4. Over that time, the Tigers went 1-4.

IW suffered two losses on Friday. The Tigers dropped a match in three sets against Grinnell College (25-20, 25-16 and 25-19), and then were swept by Illinois College (25-15, 25-15 and 25-19). Lida Landre had 19 total kills over the two matches.

The Tigers picked up their first win of the year on Saturday, sweeping Knox College 25-21, 25-8 and 25-16. Landre had a huge game in the win, tallying 16 kills. Paige Kammerer led the squad with 18 assists, and Ariel Smale had 12 digs.

The Tigers dropped a match to Anderson University 25-20, 25-18 and 28-26 later in the day. Landre had nine kills in the loss and Kammerer finished with 14 assists.

On Tuesday, IW played at Central College, falling 25-11, 25-23 and 25-20. Landre had 11 kills in that game. Kammerer finished with 15 assists, and Jenna Murphy had 12 digs.
