IW and Hy-Vee will celebrate the Mt. Pleasant sixth grade students for their physical fitness accomplishments and help them learn more about how they can incorporate healthy lifestyles into every day living on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Saira Driftmier, Hy-Vee KidsFit certified personal trainer, will be in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, Feb. 2, to name the winner of their recent squat challenge. As part of the Hy-Vee KidsFit program, the squat challenge aims to promote healthy lifestyles by inspiring classrooms across central Iowa to complete as many squats as possible in their classrooms each day.
The sixth grade students have been participating in the squat challenge, and Driftmier will announce the winner next Friday. Students also will learn about nutrition information and tools that can help them stay healthy.
The following day, all sixth grade students and their families are invited to Tiger Athletic Appreciation Day at Iowa Wesleyan University to celebrate their accomplishments. A special recognition of the squat challenge winners will take place during the IW men?s and women?s basketball games on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Doors to the Ruble Arena open at noon and the first game starts at 1 p.m. Admission is free with a canned food item, which will benefit the Fellowship Cup.
