IW basketball swept by Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ? The Iowa Wesleyan basketball teams were swept at Spalding University on Saturday. The Tiger women fell 65-51 and the men dropped their contest 84-62.

The girls? team trailed 40-29 at the half and couldn?t scrap back against the Golden Eagles. Josie Zerrusen scored 21 points to lead the way. Darby Massner had 14 points and seven assists.

Lastella Slack scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds in the loss. Hunter Clark scored three points and Ahlia Tai had two.

The IW men trailed 45-20 at halftime. The Tigers won the second half by three points but couldn?t get back into the game.

Brock Butler scored 22 points to lead the way. Avree Clark had nine points. Jake Neubauer scored eight points and led the team with four steals.

Jarryd Fernandes and Elijah Johnson each had six points. Andre Van Hook had four. Mitchell Drey scored three points and led the team with six rebounds. Austin Banks and Jacob Santos each finished with two.

Both Tiger teams are still looking for their first win. The IW women will be at Central College on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. The men will host Greenville just two hours later, at 3 p.m.
