Hy-vee issues re-call on pasta

Hy-Vee, Inc. has issued a recall for their Hy-Vee brand Spring Pasta Salad due to the potential it may be contaminated with Salmonella.

According to a release from the company, the potential contamination was brought to their attention last night, when approximately 20 illnesses in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa were potentially linked back to customers who had consumed the salad.

The voluntary recall is for the salads in both the one pound and three pound containers, and would have been available at the deli service cases between the dates of Jun 1, 2018 and July 13, 2018.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Possible symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

The salads were distributed to all of the 244 Hy-Vee grocery stores across its eight-state region.

The expiration dates on the packages range between June 22, 2018 and August 3, 2018, states the release.

Customers who have purchased the product are asked to dispose of it or return it to their locally Hy-Vee store for a refund. Consumers with questions may contact the Hy-Vee customer care line at 1-800-772-4098.
