Hearth and Home Technologies unveiled their expanded regional distribution center (RDC) on Wednesday, Oct. 25, which will add 40-plus jobs to the community.

Hearth and Home Technologies (HHT), which is the world?s largest hearth manufacturer, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the new building and welcome members of the community to tour their facilities.

?We?re here to celebrate a journey that began in October 2014,? said general manager of HHT Carla McNamee in her opening remarks. ?Today is not a completion, it?s just a milestone.?

The project was originally supposed to add just 23 jobs, but exceeded expectations by adding 40 jobs, McNamee said. This is the largest capitol campaign HHT has undertaken in the last 20 years, with the project costing $9 million.

Tim Siebert, with Carl A. Nelson Co., the company that designed and constructed the facility, said that the success of the project is due to the collaboration with HHT.

In her remarks, director of Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Kristi Ray thanked the Mt. Pleasant Area Development Commission for saying yes to this project.

?I want ya?ll to understand, that doesn?t happen in every community,? Ray said. ?That says a lot about Mt. Pleasant.?

When fully staffed, HHT employs 400 people in the community. The regional distribution center here is the primary shipping hub for HHT domestically and internationally.
