In cooperation with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach-Henry County, the Mt. Pleasant chamber has announced that applications are now being accepted for the second year of Henry County Leadership class. This intensive leadership and community development program strives to provide Henry County communities with an enduring source of diverse leaders who are prepared and committed to serving their region.
As a skills-building program, Henry County Leadership aims to:
? Identify and motivate emerging community leaders
? Provide an educational experience with a strong emphasis on both leadership skills and community awareness
? Challenge participants to apply their talents within their community while providing an opportunity to become involved
Thanks to the contribution of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach-Henry County, each session will include three hours of instructional service dedicated to leadership training. Then the class will take off to tour different areas of Henry County and learn about what makes the county unique. The program also will include Southeast Iowa Days in Des Moines along with surrounding leadership participants from Des Moines, Lee and Louisa County.
This program is open to all chamber members. The chamber asks each employer sign a statement of commitment that their employee can attend and will participate through all nine sessions. The deadline for application is 12 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31. Applications are available at the Mt. Pleasant chamber.
