Hartsock named All-State

The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association (IPSWA) released its All-State list for the 2017-18 girls? basketball season today, and Winfield-Mt. Union?s Lexee Hartsock made the cut.

Hartsock was named to the Class 1A second team after another steller season for W-MU. She led the team with 15.8 points per game and 44 blocks, and was also second on the team with 166 rebounds.

Hartsock?s aleady busy role on the team was magnified this season with the injuries to two W-MU starters, Pearl Krieger-Coble and Jenna Buffington. Hartsock was tasked with scoring an even bigger chunk of points for the Wolves when the two went down.

The senior post was phenominal in the postseason. Hartsock had 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots in the Wolves? 51-27 regional tournament win over New London. She also had 17 points, 13 rebounds and two blocked shots in her final game, when W-MU was knocked out by Holy Trinity.

No Mt. Pleasant players made the Class 4A list. Two SEC players were honored, with Fairfield?s Amber Nicole Buch making the first team and Keokuk?s Michaela Davis making the third team.
