Grace Alongi named to SLIAC  All-sportsmanship team

Over the weekend, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference hosted the women?s soccer conference tournament. After the championship match, the All-Conference awards were released. The SLIAC Player of the Year went to Paige Townsend from Westminster College. The Coach of the Year award was given to Jeff Wardlaw from Greenville University.

Iowa Wesleyan had one individual receive honors for the 2017 season. Grace Alongi was named to the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team. The All-Sportsmanship team is made up of one member from each team that was nominated by their coaches for best exemplifying good sportsmanship throughout the season.

Alongi finished the the 2017 season with 16 goals and 32 points. She broke the SLIAC record for goals scored in a game with seven, and she is now the IW single season record holder for goals scored in a season with 16. Alongi was 1-1 on penalty kicks this season and had three game winning goals. She led the conference in shots taken with 98. The Tigers ended the season with three wins, which is the most wins since the University transitioned to NCAA DIII.
