Glenn Dockendorff, 96, of Danville, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.
He was born December 27, 1921 to Edward and Edna Bishop Dockendorff. June 2, 1943, he married Alta Louise Garrels at Mt. Union Methodist Church.
A 1939 graduate of New London High School, he then served in the U.S. Army stationed in Japan at the end of World War II. He farmed; and worked for Farm Service Elevator, Blue Cross, and Stanley Steemer. He loved reading and Old Threshers, and was a member of Danville United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Peggy Overley, Omaha, Neb. and Kay Wulf, Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Ellen Runnells; and sister, Vera Shelledy.
The funeral service for Mr. Dockendorff will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Danville United Methodist Church with Pastor Tamara Wirt officiating. Visitation begins at noon Sunday at Elliott Chapel, with the family present from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Jaggar Cemetery.
