Frazier takes Winter Nationals in Omaha

OMAHA Neb. ? Mt. Pleasant eighth-grade sensation Blaine Frazier competed at the AAU Winter Nationals in Omaha, Neb. on Jan. 6-7 where he took on some of the best 100-lbs. wrestlers his age. Frazier defeated state champions and placers from Montana, Missouri and Nebraska on his way to the top spot.

Frazier, who wrestles for the AAU team DC Elite, won five matches over the weekend. In the first round, he pinned Julio Reyes of MWC Wrestling Academy in 2:42. He followed that with a 2-1 Ultimate Teibreaker win over Easton Hilton of Team Grind House, which advanced him to the quarterfinals.

Frazier cruised in the quarterfinals, beating Montana East?s Drake Rhodes in a 7-1 decision. He beat Caden Arps of MWC Wrestling Academy 3-0 in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship match against Team Grind House?s Zachary Lewis.

Frazier picked up his third straight decision in the first place match, outlasting Lewis 4-2 to win the crown.
