Four local organizations awarded grants from Henry County Tourism

Henry County Tourism has announced the recipients of the second annual Henry County Tourism grant program. This grant program is aimed at bringing people to Henry County and generating overnight stays at area hotels.


?How exciting that we are able to increase the total grant monies this year. It is so rewarding to be able to put this money back into our community?, said Kristi Ray, executive vice president of the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance.


A pool of $5,000 was available this year and was split between four recipients. The first recipient is the Kaiser Frazer Regional Spring Meet, which will be held May 11-12, 2018. The Red Flag Motor Tour, held Sept. 26-29, 2018, also received grant money. As did the P.E.O. Sesquicentennial Heritage Tour, which will be held in July, and Iowa Wesleyan University Homecoming, Oct. 5-6, 2018.


In addition to these events, four area class reunions were also awarded money. The class reunions will be held in town this year. Those include:

? Mt. Pleasant Class of 1988, July 5-7, 2018


? Mt. Pleasant Class of 1978, July 28, 2018


? WACO Class of 1983, July 13-14, 2018
