Elaine Verlee Miller, 91, of Wayland, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Parkview Home in Wayland.
Burial followed at North Hill Cemetery. Family visitation was held from 2:00-4:00 on Sunday, April 22, and one hour prior to the service and following the graveside service at the Wayland Mennonite Church. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home and the Wayland Mennonite Church. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Verlee was born on March 18, 1927 in Wayland Iowa, the daughter of Omer H. and Imogene R. (Yount) Roth. Throughout her life she worked at the Wayland State Bank, Yoder hatchery, as a custodian at the Wayland Mennonite Church, and was a co-owner of Roth Hardware store. Verlee enjoyed playing cards, gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, embroidery, and collecting antiques.
Survivors include children, Malcolm (Nancy) Miller of Ames, Iowa, Meredith Miller of Independence, Iowa, LuJean (Michael) Bennett of Knoxville, Iowa, Kimberly (Dan) Sheets of Wayland, Kelly (Greg) Smith of State Center, Iowa and Tina (Curt) Garrett of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Audrey Kauffman of Wayland, Iowa; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Miller in 2006; her parents; and granddaughter, Jessica (Miller) Clem in 2012.
