The Class 1A and 2A wrestling sectionals were held Saturday and eight Henry County wrestlers were able to punch their tickets to districts and keep their state tournament hopes alive.
The county saw four wrestlers from New London place in the top two, three from Columbus/W-MU get first or second and one WACO grappler advance on.
Mediapolis was the site for the county?s two Class 1A schools. In the team standings, New London placed second out of eight teams with 143 points and WACO came in seventh with 81 points.
Samuel Loyd cruised through the 132 lbs. bracket for New London. The Tiger senior received a bye in the first round, pinned WACO?s Robert Frazier in 2:25, and picked up a major decision over Mediapolis? Reese Thornburg to win the day.

Wilton?s Calib Lilly, the only other competitor at 220 lbs., received two byes as well. Allen defeated Lilly on a 3-1 decision in the championship match.

Davenport was the site for Class 2A Sectional 6, which saw Columbus/W-MU finish second with 163 points.
Jarod Kadel was one of just three wrestlers competing at 106 lbs., and only needed to win one match. After back-to-back byes, Kadel took out Assumption?s Trenton McDonough with an 8-0 major decision to take the 106 lbs. bracket.
Cam Rice picked up the second Wildcat win at 138 lbs. After a first-round bye, Rice knocked out Assumption?s Adam Laubenthal with an 11-0 major decision. In the championship, Rice took the top prize over top-seeded Matt Wyatt of Keokuk. Rice won the bracket with a 6-2 decision.
Tucker Bright punched his spot in the district tournament with a second-place finish at 120 lbs. Bright picked up a first-round bye and defeated Jackson Brennan of Iowa City Liberty on a 10-0 major decision to make the first place match. In the title match, Bright was pinned by Noah Gonzalez of Assumption in 1:16.
