Crawfordsville News: New adventures and club news

Joey and Alice Hochstetler welcomed a new granddaughter, Corina Jade Hochstetler on Thursday, May 24. Corina is the daughter of Tim and Kim Hochstetler of Goshen, Ind. At birth, Corina weighed eight pounds, seven ounces and was 21 inches long. She was welcomed home by big sister, Alena, and big brother, Bennett. Maternal grandparents are Brent and Theresa Leichty of Bourbon, Ind. Great-grandparents are Harlan and Joretta Hochstetler of Kalona.


Miss Junior Rodeo Iowa, Zoey Dennler, attended John Wayne Days in Winterset on May 26. She enjoyed the fireman?s pancake breakfast to start out her day. Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa, Kaylee Tremel, rode a carriage through the mostly equestrian parade with Zoey.


The girls then met actor and musician Red Steagall and his wife, Gail, and posed for pictures. Zoey concluded her trip by touring the John Wayne Museum and his birth home as well as visiting three of the Madison County covered bridges.


Zoey is the daughter of Darren and Karen Dennler of Crawfordsville and was crowned Miss Junior Rodeo Iowa at Adel, in January.


On Monday, June 4, the Wyman Community Club met for a 11:30 a.m. luncheon at the Ainsworth FoCo with 11 present. Attending were John Wittrig and Laura Wittrig of Winfield, Wilma Vosburg of Grinnell, Jane Kaczinski of Washington, Frieda Finke, Pauline Richardson, Lucille Humphreys, Elaine Prom, Ruth Erwin, Billie Jo Rose and Larry Love. The group?s next meeting will be Monday, July 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Ainsworth FoCo.


The White Cloud Club met at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, and enjoyed breakfast at the Frontier Restaurant in Wayland with nine members attending. Roll call was taken by answering the question, ?what do you do for Flag Day??


Jolene Colthurst opened the meeting with a reading on the history of how Flag Day originated. The secretary and treasurer?s reports were given by Pat Miller and old and new business was discussed.


Attending were Carrie Coble, Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 3, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Betty Lintz. A White Elephant exchange will be held.
