Crawfordsville news: Church sponsoring mission trip to Des Moines

 


The White Cloud Club met Tuesday, May 1, at 11:30 a.m. for a luncheon at Ainsworth Four Corners with eight members in attendance: Jolene Cothurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells.


Jolene Colthurst opened the meeting with a reading called ?Earth.?


The secretary and treasurer?s reports were given by Pat Miller. Old and new business was discussed and everyone enjoyed a plant exchange.


The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 5, at 8:30 a.m. at the new Frontier Restaurant in Wayland.


2018 WACO graduates of the Crawfordsville Community will be honored following church services at 9:50 a.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Sunday, May 6.


Crawfordsville area graduates are Beau Beckler, Joey Collier, Alexandria Gerot, Emily Kerns, Aubrey McClanahan and Maggie Smith.


The Memorial Day speaker will be Col. Von Miller on Monday, May 28, at the Crawfordsville Cemetery. He is the brother of Gene Miller. In case of rain, the service will be held at the Schantz- Mitchell Legion Hall.


The United Church of Crawfordsville is part of a group of churches in the area that are helping sponsor and plan a mission trip to Des Moines on June 4, 5, and 6.


Those going will be spending time helping a local food pantry, shelters, homeless camps and a local church.

April 29 a taco bar was held at the United Church of Crawfordsville to raise money for this mission project.


The next event will be Saturday, May 19, at the Riverside Casino and will feature the Eric Burdon and the Animals inside show.

On Sunday, June 17, The United Church of Crawfordsville will join the Ainsworth Community Church for ?Worship in the Park.? Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m.
