Mt. Pleasant Police Department officers responded to a two-vehicle accident Oct. 21 at the intersection of Washington and Jefferson Streets.
The accident report states that a 2011 Volvo, owned and operated by Eric Novak, Mt. Pleasant, was traveling west in the inside lane of Washington Street and failed to stop for the red light. Novak?s car collided with a 2006 Chrysler, owned and operated by Haley Hostetter, Burlington.
Hostetter had been in the south lane of Jefferson Street, having the green light and attempting to make a left turn onto Washington Street when her vehicle was struck by the Novak vehicle in the intersection.
Total damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000. There were no injuries.
Novak was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device. Additional charges are possible, police said, pending further investigation.
