Business leaders head back to high school Friday for Career Day

This Friday, March 2, business leaders from the area will head to Mt. Pleasant Community High School for Career Advisory Day. High school students will select the career of their choice during their regularly scheduled advisory period.

?It was so easy to get business people to say yes,? said Kristi Ray, Executive Vice President of the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance. ?They love giving back to the school and really appreciate the opportunity to talk about their career.?

Topics covered during Advisory Day include careers in agriculture, business, computers, culinary, medical, interior design, law enforcement, manufacturing and logistics, veterinary and welding. Careers in engineering, psychology, art, music and drama have generated the most student interest.

In all, more than 600 students will attend Career Day with 51 business leaders leading the classes. Career Advisory Day is just one initiative of the Work-Based Learning Plan designed at building bridges between the school district and the business community in an effort to better prepare our future workforce.
