Buddy Poppy Day honors veterans

To the Editor,

Buddy Poppy Day was recently held in Mt. Pleasant by the VFW Auxiliary Post 2561. Thanks to Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart for letting us use their business location for distribution of the Buddy Poppy and thanks very much to everyone who accepted the opportunity to give a freewill donation for the cause that The Buddy Poppy stands for. Your kindness is greatly appreciated in helping us have a successful Buddy Poppy Day 2017.

What is Buddy Poppy? The Buddy Poppy was initiated in 1924 when the VFW Auxiliary registered the name Buddy Poppy with the U.S. Patent Office to represent the blood shed by American Military service members and to remind us of their sacrifices.

The Buddy Poppy is assembled by disabled and needy veterans in veteran hospitals. Proceeds from Buddy Poppy distribution days are used for aid, relief and comfort of needy veterans and veteran?s families.

Sincere We Are,

The Mt. Pleasant VFW
