By Andy Hallman, Golden Triangle News Service

BIRMINGHAM ? A delay was announced in the trial of a Birmingham woman charged in the death of her infant son.

Angel Poole, 24, was charged with child endangerment in March after an investigation into the death of her 2-month-old son Judah Wessels. Poole?s trial was set to begin Aug. 22, then moved to Dec. 12, and most recently was delayed to Feb. 27.

William Glass of William Glass Law Office in Keosauqua was appointed to be Poole?s attorney.

According to an Iowa Department of Public Safety press release, Poole contacted authorities on the morning of July 7, 2016, and said that her 67-day-old son had difficulty breathing. Judah was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m. after arriving by ambulance to the Van Buren County Hospital and Clinics in Keosauqua.

A criminal charge is an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
