Two scholarships for students going into the medical field are being offered through the Iowa Branch of International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons and The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation. Each scholarship is for students in Iowa.
A supplemental scholarship of $1,000 to students interested in pursuing a career in the medical or health fields is being offered through the Iowa Branch of International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons, called the Dr. Jennie McCowen Scholarship.
Applicants must be accepted to an accredited two- to four-year school in Iowa, live in Iowa and be enrolled in the medical or health fields. Applicants must be physically attending college full time in the fall of 2018.

The Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation will be accepting applications to its Laboratory Control Ltd. Health Career Scholarship Program for the 2018-2019 school year beginning Feb. 1.
Since 2004 when the program was developed, nearly $350,000 has been provided in scholarship support to students in southeast Iowa. The goal of this scholarship program is to build relationships and provide support for homegrown medical students in the hopes that they will someday return to our community to practice.
Eligible applicants for the Laboratory Control Ltd. Health Career Scholarship Program must reside in one of the following counties: Appanoose, Davis, Jasper, Jefferson, Henry, Keokuk, Mahaska, Monroe, Van Buren and Wapello.
Qualified applicants must also be enrolled in a state or nationally accredited program of study that focuses on an eligible health care field of study, have graduated high school by September 2018, have at least 30 hours of college credit and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Scholarship awards are paid directly to the successful applicant?s college or university and may be used for education expenses, including tuition, books and other fees.
Applicants may submit their online application at www.orlf.org. No paper applications will be accepted. The deadline for application submission is midnight on March 31, 2018.
