Duane Billman was born in Ft. Madison, July 24, 1935 to John Schubert and Dorothy Hushaw Billman. He died April 10, 2019. He graduated from Ft. Madison High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. He married Nancy Boyce in Deadwood, S.D. Aug. 27, 1964. In 1969, Duane started the art department at Danville and taught 27 years before retiring. He worked at Geode State Park in the summer as the "night ranger." He enjoyed Quarter Horses, rodeos and served on the Burlington SnowBull board. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and cross-country skier, and was a member of Danville Congregational Church. Surviviors include his wife; four sons: Ross, Mt. Pleasant; Coe, Ft. Madison; Jon of Michigan, Clay of Oklahoma; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life service will be 11:00, Friday, April 19 at The Congregational Church, Danville. Pastors Carl Vass and Steve Parker will officiate. Inurnment will be at Jaggar Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at a luncheon at the church following the service.
