Linc and Gina Davis designed the house they wanted at 600 W. Yocum Lane and let a friend from a former town of residence, who works at Mt. Pleasant Lumber, help them with building plans, and with building.
The Davis home is the fourth and final home to be featured on the TTT Tour of Homes from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.
The house is a huge, brown A-frame with peaks running north-south and east-west, and with a front deck that wraps around the peak facing the street. |

The spaces above two Mt. Pleasant businesses, Anna's Pantry and El Acedero (pictured), are being renovated to eventually become apartments. The 44x88 space above Anna's Pantry has been vacant since the 1940s and will be split into four apartments after all load bearing walls, plaster and lathe have been replaced. |

Tamai and Craig Fenstermaker have spent 15 years improving the house at 804 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant.
The Fenstermakers' house will be on display Sunday from 1-5 p.m. during the TTT Tour of Homes. The tour benefits area charitable causes.

Sara White of Wheaton, Ill., swore when she married an Iowa boy, Tim Gray of Mt. Pleasant, one thing she'd never do was move to Iowa. But when Tim's cousin Steve, of Cottage Realty showed them the home at 207 N. Adams St., the pair was awestruck by the details.
They hope the community will enjoy seeing the house during the TTT Tour of Homes from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. Proceeds will benefit area charitable causes.

County Engineer Bill Belzer came to the county supervisors this morning with an overhead projector and a presentation for a proposed bicycle trail to Oakland Mills.
The trail is planned from South Street at the edge of Mt. Pleasant along the south side of Oakland Mills Road, before turning into the park at Oakland Mills.

The U.S. 34 bypass of Fairfield opened at 10 a.m. this morning, more than a full week ahead of the contracted opening date of Nov. 26, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's District 5 Office.

Dennis and Alice Fitzpatrick's home at 407 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, is one of four homes to be featured on the TTT Tour of Homes from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.
The home was built in the 1910s by the Hall family, and has seen two additions to its rear, one that added considerable space when five people were living there in 1990, and in 2003, a sunroom added a cozy view of the carefully-gardened backyard.

The Mt. Pleasant Community High School put on its final production of "The Jungle Book" Sunday afternoon in the Heatilator Auditorium. The cast of 14 portrayed characters based on the first volume of Rudyard Kipling's book, director Lon Pugh said. The play ran about an hour with no breaks. |

After being gone for several years, the collection of nativity scenes that once were displayed in Mt. Pleasant will return to the area this holiday season.
According to Jennifer van Nostrand, development director at the Mt. Pleasant Christian School, the displays will coincide with the TTT Tour of Homes.

The group that hung the posters, Teens Against Tobacco Use, wants the public to know that, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, 91 Iowans die every week from tobacco-related complications. A Winfield TATU group has been doing the same project, members of the Mt. Pleasant group said.

The Mt. Pleasant City Council made their decision Wednesday on whether a roundabout would be constructed at Grand Avenue and Washington Street.
In a roll call vote, the council approved a resolution that would approve the design of Washington Street as a four-lane road and the intersection at Grand Avenue and Washington Street with a four-way stop sign. Opposing the resolution were councilmen Mike McKim and Stan Curtis.

It hasn't been a good time to be in the economic development business, Kiley Miller acknowledged.
Miller, the executive vice preseident of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, pushed for the county's help in two initiatives at this morning's meeting of the Henry County Supervisors.

The Mt. Pleasant Community High School show choir InMotion will be a blur with the busy season ahead of it.
InMotion's 38 vocal music students completed Monday a five-day intensive choreography camp at Mt. Pleasant Community High School. The group worked with Christopher Noffke, a choreographer from New York City, to learn its moves for the 2008-2009 show.

Members of the Southeast Iowa Choral Directors Association (SEICDA) High School Honor Choir performed Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church sanctuary. The group contains students from 14 high schools across southeast Iowa and was its largest ever this year with 124 students participating, conductor Dr. Jamie Spillane of Iowa Wesleyan College told the audience. |

Children gathered at the Pumpkin Patch Party at the Faith Christian Outreach Church E3 Center in Mt. Pleasant on Halloween to play carnival games for candy and participate in a costume contest. Children's pastor Crystal McLennan said the event was intended "for kids (and families) to come and have fun ... as a safe alternative to trick-or-treat." |
